Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science in Family Life, BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY (2014).
Master of Social Work, CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, FULLERTON (2022).
As a therapist for Bristol Health, Sierra enjoyed working with teenagers, college students, and adults in other stages of life. She utilized cognitive behavioral therapy, accelerated resolution therapy, and a client-centered focus to help clients reduce the impact of anger, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, depression, OCD, and trauma.
During graduate school, she interned with Salus Hospice and Alzheimer’s Orange County. She enjoyed providing support and resources to individuals and families through both organizations. While responding to Helpline calls at Alzheimer’s Orange County, she loved noticing the change in callers’ voices as they moved from distressed to heard and understood, then to calm with ideas to try and possible next steps.
Two prior jobs that greatly impacted her career were becoming a cosmetologist and a driving instructor. Lake Forest Beauty College was where she chose to learn how to talk to people she didn’t know. Since then, she has loved talking with people anywhere she goes. Her work as a driving instructor reinforced her desire to help others as a social worker. It allowed her to utilize social work skills to build rapport, teach, and give positive and constructive feedback in alignment with students’ goals. She loved providing a calm, encouraging space for students to learn important and empowering skills through what is often a stressful experience (driving in general, and particularly in Southern California).
Outside of work, Sierra loves to travel, paint, and find fun (sometimes free) community events to participate in with her husband and stepchildren. She also enjoys staying in touch with friends, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and working on personal development goals.
