Bachelor of Psychology, Minor in Spanish, WEBER STATE UNIVERSITY (2016).
Master of Marriage and Family Therapy, CAPELLA UNIVERSITY (2021).
Sam has over 7 years experience in the mental health field working with adolescents, children and their parents. While finishing his undergraduate degree, Sam worked in residential treatment facilities. After he graduated with his Bachelor of Psychology, Sam worked for a non-profit as an in-home behavioral specialist working with families involved with the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS), the Department of Juvenile Justice Services (DJJS), and Juvenile Probation. Most recently, Sam has worked as a therapist for children in the secure placement foster care system and their families.
Sam has been certified in the Teaching Family Model (TFA) and has been trained in Solution-Focused, Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Collaborative Therapy models. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, Sam recognizes the influence that a family system has on an individual. He appreciates the importance of including a systemic perspective in the treatment process.
When Sam’s not meeting with clients, he enjoys cooking (especially smoking meat), watching movies, cheering on the Utah Jazz and LA Dodgers, and playing sports. He has recently taken up slow pitch softball and plays on a co-ed team with his wife. They acknowledge they aren’t very good but they have lots of fun! Sam most enjoys spending time with his wife, children and collie.
