Lauren Leavitt

Philosophy

“I believe that every person is the foremost expert in their experience and situation. With so many things playing a factor in our lives, navigating complex issues can feel exhausting, overwhelming, and confusing. I believe that my role is as a guide with a few suggestions for clients to decide if it works for them, as well as a sounding board if that’s what’s needed. As a therapist, I work with you and what your values and goals are to help you get to where you want to be.”

Education & Experience

Bachelor is Science in Psychology, UTAH VALLEY UNIVERSITY (2025).

Master of Social Work, WEBER STATE UNIVERSITY (2027).

Before deciding to focus on psychology and social work for her school studies, Lauren spent about six years working in aviation at small and large airports while learning to fly herself. She credits some of this experience in helping her decide counseling was ultimately the route she wanted to follow, yet still retains a deep love for anything aviation. Meeting other pilots and clients from all around the states and working with them to resolve concerns or challenges, or simply listening to their stories, taught Lauren a love of connecting with others through time and compassion.

During her undergraduate degree, Lauren gained experience working with adolescents in crisis and neurodivergent diagnoses. During her graduate studies, she worked with at-risk youth in a detention and crisis setting. While having worked with teenagers during her experience, Lauren strives to continue learning and growing in every aspect to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where clients of any age or background can explore values, goals, and past experiences.

Lauren understands that beginning this journey, whether for the first time or with a new therapist, can be challenging and take time. Building a therapeutic relationship where Lauren can understand a client’s values and motivations is important to her as it helps to tailor therapeutic experiences to the individual.

Lauren was born and raised in Oregon before moving to Colorado, and then Utah with her spouse. Lauren has two young children that keep her on her toes and when not at work, can be found playing or reading with them, experimenting with new dessert recipes, reading, spending time outside (usually looking at or for planes), or trying to get all of her homework finished.
