Philosophy
“I believe in an empathy-first approach. Healing begins when clients feel understood, valued, and safe. My approach is grounded in cognitive and behavioral principles, helping clients identify patterns, beliefs, and relationship dynamics that may be preventing them from living the life they desire. I view therapy as emotional fitness, where intentional practice builds resilience, healthier conflict resolution, and sustainable changes.”

Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science in Psychology, BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY (1992).
Master of Social Work, WEBER STATE UNIVERSITY (2027).
Gretchen Thomas became a therapist out of gratitude for what was done for her when she was struggling with parenting as a young mother. Through spirituality, parenting books, and trusting in a higher power, she changed her thought patterns and behaviors and learned healthier relationship skills. That experience transformed her life and sparked a passion for helping others discover that hopeful change is possible.
Gretchen enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families who are struggling with emotional regulation, anger management, and self-worth concerns. She has facilitated anger management and domestic violence groups and has counseled individuals experiencing self-worth concerns, emotional dysregulation, Autism, and OCD.
As a young mother, Gretchen worked as a fitness instructor for 15 years. She continues to enjoy learning about fitness, nutrition, and overall wellness and appreciates the important connection between physical, emotional, and mental health.
Having been married for twenty years, raising four children, and experiencing divorce herself, Gretchen brings personal understanding and empathy to those navigating life’s unexpected transitions. She enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. In her free time, she enjoys walking, returning to the California beaches where she grew up, collecting seashells, and exploring the practical application of spirituality in everyday life.
