“I believe healing is always possible and it is never too late to start. I view therapy as a collaborative process where we work together to understand what matters most to you
and move toward meaningful change. My role is to meet you with honesty and compassion, help you reconnect with your voice, and empower you to make intentional

Education & Experience
Bachelor of Arts in History and Minor in Spanish, UNIVERSITY OF UTAH (2019).
Master of Social Work, UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY (2026).
Abbie is passionate about working with adults and couples as they navigate life transitions, relationship challenges, family dynamics, and faith transitions, explore identity and belonging, and reconnect with their inner voice. She has a strong interest in helping clients clarify their values, work through ambivalence, and make intentional decisions that support their growth. She is especially dedicated to creating a safe, affirming, and empowering space for all clients, particularly those who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ and/or BIPOC.
In addition to providing therapy at Carbajal Counseling, her experience includes supporting individuals and families as an Oncology Social Worker and working with students in junior high and high school settings. She also has experience conducting neuropsychological assessments as a Psychometrist and working with adolescents in residential treatment.
Abbie uses an integrative approach with a strong emphasis on values work and incorporates evidence-based practices including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as mindfulness practices. She approaches counseling from strengths-based, client-centered, and family systems perspectives.
Outside of the office, Abbie enjoys practicing karate, traveling, spending time in the sunshine, curling up with a good book, watching historical dramas balanced by some reality TV, and cuddling with her partner and cat. She also loves going to the movies and unapologetically nerding out over The Lord of the Rings!
