EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Psychology, Spanish Minor, Utah State University (2016).

Master of Marriage & Family Therapy, Utah State University.

Brooke Hansen completed a few different internships while in her master’s program which included working with children, adolescents, and their families, including post-adoption families. She also has had the opportunity to work with couples providing counseling. She provided therapy to those who were looking to deepen their relationships and those who had complications from infidelity. She has also done extensive work treating individuals struggling with anxiety and depression.

Brooke is a therapist who generalizes in treating all sorts of mental health and relationship concerns. However, she has completed Gottman Level 1, which is a workshop established by Doctors John and Julie Gottman, who are leaders in couple’s therapy research. Along with these techniques from this workshop, Brooke uses Emotional Focused Couple’s Therapy (EFCT) to guide couples through deep emotions that affect communication in their relationships. She often uses Internal Family Systems (IFS) to collaborate with individuals to create healing. By helping her clients establish trust within themselves, they learn to be mindful of their emotions and to honor them.

Brooke also enjoys working with children and adolescents. She completed basic training for Trust Based Relational Interventions (TBRI), which focuses on children and parents’ healing through increasing their connection with each other. Brooke provides a mixture of child-centered and filial play therapy/talk therapy with her child and adolescent clients. She believes in helping children and adolescents heal through self-expression, including expression in play. She believes that people have great capacity to heal, and they often just need a guide to help them along in the healing process.

Outside of the office, Brooke loves spending time with her husband. She enjoys long walks, long talks, and just being goofy with her friends and family. In a past life, she was a world-class athlete in tumbling and still from time to time finds herself flipping around on the lawn and trampoline. She enjoys any references to “The Office” and “Friends”, which are her go-to shows.

Brooke sees clients in both ENGLISH and SPANISH.
